In Sept 1996 the Catholic Bishop’s Conference of India (CBCI) officially granted recognition to the National Catholic Charismatic Renewal Services (NCCRS) and the national office with the objects of ‘ the service and promotion of Catholic Charismatic Renewal of India and to serve as a centre of unity, communication and cooperation.

In 2004 the Catholic Charismatic Renewal Services in Kerala [KCCR] was officially recognized by the KCBC and a commission of KCBC with Bishop Thomas Chakkiath as its Chairman and Rt. Rev. Dr. Stephen Athipozhi and Geevarghese Mar Divannasios as the Vice Chairman was formed.  The Chairman of the Kerala Service Team (KST)  is it secretary and  ‘Emmaus’ at Kalamassery (Ernakulam) serves as the office to the commission

THE CENTRAL GOALS OF CATHOLIC CHARISMATIC RENEWAL

  1. To help Catholics experience a Baptism in the holy Spirit; that is a personal experience of the graces of Christian discipleship, namely

    a)
Intense love for and commitment to Jesus as one’s personal Saviuor and Lord.
    b)     A child-like trust in God the Father,
    c)     An openness to the guidance and gifts of the Holy Spirit, and
    d)     A warm commitment to the Body of Christ, the church

  2. To help Catholics understand and use the Charismatic gifts, which are a source of strength for Christians in the carrying out of their mission and in their pilgrimage towards holiness.

  3. To help Catholics discover the beauty and power of prayer , both collective and personal , with special emphasis on the prayer of praise and worship, faith filled intercession ,and participation in a weekly prayer meeting with fellow believers

  4. To promote evangelization in the power of the holy sprit ( Including   re evangelization of the baptized evangelization of non christans and evangelization of  cultures and social structures) by proclaiming the Gospel in word and deed , and by bearing witness to Jesus Christ through personal testimony and those works of faith and justice to which each one is called.

  5. To foster an on going growth in holiness through proper integration of these charismatic emphases with the full life of the church through participation in rich sacramental and liturgical life, appreciation of the tradition of catholic doctrine and participation in the pastoral plan of the local church.
