KCBC Media Commission
Kerala Catholic
Bishops' Council's Media Commission is constituted to promote Social
Communication Media in the Region. Media Commission's activities
involve organizing Media Awareness programmes, Media Education
courses, promoting performing arts, conducting cultural. dramatic.
literary competitions, workshops etc. It also produces TV programmes
and value based audio-visual programmes for TV channels. It undertakes
publication of Media related books, documents of the church on Media
related topics, Media Education materials etc. The commission
encourages and supports catholic media persons and recognizes those
who are outstanding in different media fields by presenting them with
awards and citations. It conducts regional gatherings of talented
artists. journal ists. writers. musicians. dramatists
etc, in order to
build up good rapport with them. It net works with Media and
Commlillicatioll ~tllcl) centres, Diocesan Communication Centres,
Catholic Media persons and organizations. It collaborates with other
Catholic Media Agencies like Signis India. ICPA, Musicological Society
of India. Jesus Youth. SAR NEWS etc. It also collaborates with the
Vatican Radio and maintains the Regional office of the Vatican Radio
and publishes the Monthly Bulletin. Vatican Tharangam.

Vatican Radio
KCBC Media Commission looks after the Malayalam Regional office of the
Vatican Radio It assists the Malayalam section of the Vatican Radio in
Rome:
It corresponds with
the Central office and keeps contact with the Radio listeners and
organizes Vatican Radio Listeners' meet.
Publication &
distribution of "Vatican Tharangam," the Malayalam News Bulletin of
the Vatican Radio. The Regional office takes care of the publishing of
the Bulletin. It is a registered monthly magazine. The aim of the
magazine is to announce the monthly schedule of the Radio; its
programmes. the important messages and teachings of the Holy Father
and the standpoint of the Church.
Promotional programmes: The media office conducts regular visits to
different diocesan centres and institutions in order to help groups of
people get familiarized with Vatican Radio Programmes. During these
visits leaflets are distributed seminars are conducted and mementos
given.
The Vatican Tharangam is sent to over 5000 addresses throughout
Kerala to Christians and nonChristians.
